Diwali at White House – Trump calls Modi his friend

US President, Donald Trump, hosted Diwali ceremonial lighting of the Diya at the Roosevelt Room, White House. While speaking to the reporters on the occasion, he mentioned he was honored and thrilled to be celebrating Diwali.

“Our nation is blessed to be home to millions of hardworking citizens of Indian and Southeast Asian heritage who enrich our country in countless ways.  Together, we are one proud American family.  Do we agree with that?  I think so. I think we do.  Right? You better believe it.”, said Mr. President. This invoked some laughter in the room possibly considering his stand on the H1B visas.

He spoke high about the Indians who were fulfilling important roles in his administration. Addressing India’s PM, Narendra Modi, as his friend, Trump said US ties with India are moving along and that Indian are great negotiators.

President also thanked the firefighters who are dealing with the wildfires at California.
