Somu Veerraju says Amaravathi will be the only capital of AP

Looks like the BJP has turned its guns towards both Telugu speaking states. During the GHMC elections, their target was TRS. Now looks like they are focusing on YSRCP and TDP in Andhra Pradesh.

Somu Veerraju says Amaravati will be the only capital of AP

A couple of days back, BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao said that BJP will have to conduct two surgical strikes on YSRCP and TDP for resorting to vote bank politics.

And now in yet another jolt to Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, comes another statement from BJP state president Somu Veerraju, who claimed that he was speaking as a representative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His contentious statement surely raised many eyebrows in political circles and could have given a reason to smile for former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandra Babu Naidu.

Somu Veerraju said that Amaravati would be the only capital of Andhra Pradesh. This is a major setback to Jagan and his followers as YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has been touting the concept of three capitals – one each in Vizag, Amaravati and Kurnool.

Speaking at a farmers’ meet organised by state unit of Bharatiya Kisan Sangh in Tullur, Veerraju made it clear that what the farmers wanted was what his party wanted. “There are no two things about it,” he said. He demanded that the government issue 64,000 pattas to the farmers in Amaravati and develop the remaining 9,000 acres.

Despite YS Jagan pushing the idea of three capitals, the central government led by Prime Minister Modi has been developing the Amaravati region. AIIMS Mangalagiri, Agriculture University, National Institute of Design, are all under progress. “Completion of Kanakadurga flyover and progress of Benz circle flyover along with six-lane road to Machilipatnam shows the sincerity of the Centre to develop the region,” Veerraju said, much to the disappointment of Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan.

Like in Telangana, Veerraju’s focus was on winning the assembly polls in 2024. He said when BJP is voted to power, the capital city will be constructed with Rs 5000 crore and it will witness all-round development. Veerraju also made it a point to condemn YSRCP leaders regarding the farmers’ agitation.
