Actor who rejected ‘Ghajini’ movie

There are quite a few reasons why actors take a certain role. The money was good, the character was interesting, or the part could be a leap to the big time. There are actors who broke the stereotypes and shed their inhibitions by choosing a wide variety of roles which proved a big game-changer for them. One such actor is Suriya.

Though Suriya has acted in a few hit movies as a solo hero after playing the second fiddle to Vijay, Vikram for some time, his career’s biggest break came in the form of Ghajini in 2005. Initially, Suriya was not the actual choice for the movie. Director AR Murugadoss has approached R Madhavan for the role, but he denied as he couldn’t connect to the second part.

After Madhavan rejected, Murugadoss approached Suriya and with the massive success of the movie, Suriya has become a big superstar and amassed huge fan following even in Telugu. The movie was later remade in Hindi with Aaamir Khan and Asin and it became the first Indian movie to collect 100 crores at the box-office.
