Why Some Leaders Refuse BJP’s MLA Nominations?

The Election Commission has set the date for the Telangana general elections on November 30th, giving political parties just 50 days to campaign. While BRS has already named its candidates, the Congress is about to release its list soon. However, the BJP faces a unique challenge.

Despite proudly announcing 6,000 applications from aspiring candidates, the reality is quite different. In many areas, the BJP is struggling to find suitable contenders. To address this issue, the BJP High Command has taken an unconventional step, ordering senior leaders like Bandi Sanjay, Kishan Reddy, Aravind, DK, and Jithender, who applied for MLA tickets, to contest in the Assembly elections.

On the flip side, prominent leaders like Vijayasanthi, Vivek, Komatireddy, and Konda Vishweswara Reddy have declined to run as MLA nominees. Notably, these leaders have also skipped recent meetings with top BJP figures like Modi and Amit Shah.

The BJP now has the difficult burden of selecting qualified candidates for all 119 seats, notwithstanding the uncertainty of winning in the state. The approaching Telangana polls have taken on a new dimension as a result of this unanticipated turn of events, making them worth monitoring.
