Megastar Chiranjeevi who made a comeback into movies with Khaidi No 150 in 2017 has another release for Sankranthi this year. Coincidentally, both Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna competed for Sankranthi after 2017.
Interestingly, both Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy are produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Shruthi Haasan played the heroine in both the movies. After series of not so impressive outings like Sye Raa, Acharya and God Father, Chiranjeevi has pinned all hopes on the movie and Ravi Teja has become another added advantage to the movie. Let’s see whether Chiranjeevi can bounce back or not.
Story:
Waltair Veerayya’s story is all about a fisherman in Visakhapatnam. Veerayya (Chiranjeevi), is a well-known fisherman in Jalaripeta, Visakhapatnam. Everyone including the coast Guard approaches him if they come up with any problems which are beyond their control to solve. There comes a situation when Veerayya is in desperate need of money to fight a court case and decides to take up the assignment from CI Seethapathi (Rajendra Prasad).
What is the mission, what is the court case Veerayya is fighting is the rest of the story.
Artists Review:
No need to tell about Chiranjeevi’s performance. However, we can see the vintage Chiranjeevi back in the movie and the fans can thoroughly enjoy his comic timing which went missing in his previous movies. He excelled in dance despite being in his late 60s.
Raviteja got an important role and he has done well. Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja’s combination scenes give ample entertainment.
Shruthi Haasan has an ample role compared to Veera Simha Reddy. She is neat in dances, action, and comic scenes.
Bobby Simha as the main villain has done well, however, Prakash Raj’s role has nothing new to offer. Satyaraj got a blink-and-miss role.

On the whole, Waltair Veerayya is a movie to be watched for vintage Chiranjeevi. Director Bobby succeeded in presenting Chiranjeevi the way the fans have been waiting to see for a long time. However, he failed to convert the movie to appeal to the section of the audience. An okay watch for this Sankranthi.
