It’s December 3 today and it’s barely three weeks from the release of Varun Dhawan’s Coolie No 1. The hit film of the ’90s is being made by Vashu Bhagnani once again. David Dhawan who made the superhit Govinda film is directing his son Varun Dhawan in the movie.
Right now, the film is in news for its latest song Teri Bhabhi that is out and trending. The song marks the introduction of Sara Ali Khan in the film and Sara Ali Khan reprises the role of Karishma Kapoor in the original film.
Varun Dhawan plays coolie no 1 in the film, which had superstar of the masses Govinda playing the lead role in the yesteryears film. Well, some actors are very clear about not touching remakes, some stars do take it as a challenge to put old wine in a new bottle. In fact, even the likes of Shah Rukh Khan acted in the remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s Don.
Sometimes, the films work; sometimes they don’t match up to the expectations of the original. However, in the case of Coolie No 1, the team remains the same. Producer Vashu Bhagnani and director David Dhawan have carried forward the franchise. As for Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan, they are two of the most affable stars of the younger generation.
In Teri Bhabhi, Varun Dhawan is seen falling in love with a picture of Sara Ali Khan and then he promptly breaks into a dream sequence, quintessential of masala movies.
Coolie No 1 releases on Amazon Prime Video on December 25.
