The sensational drugs scandal that rocked the Telugu film industry in 2018 has taken a new turn as the Nampally Court in Hyderabad has granted major relief to director Puri Jagannadh and actor Tarun. Today, the court dismissed the cases filed against both stars by the Excise Department, citing a lack of solid evidence and witnesses.
Six out of the eight cases filed by a Special Investigative Team (SIT) of the Excise Department in connection with the infamous drugs scandal were squashed by the Nampally Court. In 2018, the Excise Department had extensively interrogated several popular film stars, collecting samples from their nails and hair. However, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) investigation failed to find conclusive evidence of substance abuse by Puri Jagannadh and Tarun. Referring to the FSL report, the Nampally Court ultimately dismissed the cases against both Puri and Tarun.
