For his support of the YSRCP, is known for his controversial comments. He recently made remarks claiming that Nandi awards were decided based on the Kamma caste, which led him to reject them. He also claimed to have fought with the jury members who were predominantly Kamma to ensure that deserving artists were recognized.
Posani specifically mentioned rejecting a Nandi award he received for his performance in Jr NTR’s Temper. Following these comments, several celebrities criticized him. Prasanna Kumar and Murali Mohan suggested that Posani’s statements may have been influenced by his association with the YSRCP government, as the press meet was government-sponsored.
They emphasized that awards in the film industry are awarded purely on the basis of merit and talent, and urged Posani not to create divisions within the artist community based on caste. They reiterated that the film industry belongs to artists of all backgrounds, not just one particular community.
