The much-anticipated release of Adipurush on June 16, 2023, has movie lovers eagerly awaiting its visual extravaganza. As a film based on the Hindu epic Ramayan, expectations are running high. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan lead the cast, with Om Raut directing the project.
In a heartwarming gesture, Abhishek Agarwal and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor have already stepped forward to sponsor 10,000 tickets each for the underprivileged. However, amidst all the excitement, reports have surfaced stating that the makers of Adipurush are planning to request a hike in ticket prices. They have approached the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government, seeking permission to increase ticket rates by Rs 50.
Previously, the AP government had permitted ticket price hikes for mega-budget films such as RRR, Acharya, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Veera Simha Reddy, and Waltair Veerayya, ranging from 75 to 45 rupees. The question remains whether the government, led by CM Jagan, will allow the Adipurush team to proceed with their desired ticket rate hike.
A representative from the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce expressed their views, stating, “Undoubtedly, the state government is making efforts to support the growth of the Telugu film industry by offering various incentives, including permission for ticket price hikes. However, it is crucial for the government to encourage filmmakers to shoot a substantial portion of the film in AP, thereby providing employment opportunities for local artists and generating revenue for the state.”
