There are growing concerns about Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy potentially losing the support of the Kshatriya community in the forthcoming elections. The cause for this unease lies in Jagan’s decision to overlook the 125th anniversary celebrations of Manyam Veerudu Alluri Sitarama Raju on June 4.
By neglecting this occasion, Jagan risks losing the trust and backing of the Kshatriya electorate, who expected the government to officially acknowledge the event. Even the Opposition leader, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has now raised this matter, highlighting that back in 2018, he had issued a GO to celebrate Alluri’s birth anniversary, honoring the demand of the Kshatriya community.
Since then, the community’s revered leader has been commemorated every year, with last year’s event graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself, who unveiled a statue of Alluri in Bhimavaram. Jagan’s current tour in Chittoor district could have been an opportunity for him to pay homage to Alluri.
Unfortunately, he missed this chance, reinforcing the perception that he is neglecting the Kshatriya community. This sentiment is amplified by the ongoing distress experienced by the Kshatriyas over the mistreatment of their leader, MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju. Political analysts emphasize that overlooking the Kshatriyas could have significant consequences for Jagan, as he had an opportunity to mend relations with the community, which might now impact their support in the upcoming elections.
