Telangana’s Political Scene, What The Survey Reveals?

The recent comprehensive survey conducted across Telangana’s 119 constituencies has unveiled significant insights into the current political sentiments of the state. Carried out between August 6-12 with a sample size of 1024 participants per constituency, the survey aimed to gauge the political mood through a representative sample. Notably, the survey indicates a notable shift in the political landscape, particularly for the ruling party, BRS.

Comparing these findings to the 2018 elections, where the then TRS secured a 47.4 percent vote share, the latest survey showcases a decline to 40 percent in their vote share, marking a substantial drop of 7 percent. This decline is certainly significant and demands attention. Congress emerges as the second contender with a 27.6 percent vote share, followed by the BJP at 14.8 percent.

Despite persistent claims by figures like KCR, KTR, and Harish Rao about Telangana’s progress due to welfare schemes and development initiatives, the survey indicates a change in public opinion. The distinctive Telangana development model, once hailed as exemplary by some, now faces a potential drop to 40 percent in voter support.

Given that the scheduled elections are a mere four months away, opposition against KCR’s administration is evidently strong. However, the opposition faces its own set of challenges. Internal disputes and power struggles among senior Congress leaders have hampered their chances, while the BJP lacks leaders with robust leadership qualities across constituencies. These dynamics may elucidate KCR’s pursuit of a third consecutive victory.
