It has become a trend for actresses from North India to belittle the South film industry, despite the fact that it provided them with their big break before they ventured into Bollywood. Taapsee Pannu, who made her acting debut in the Telugu film industry with “Jhummandi Naadam” starring Manoj Manchu under the direction of K Raghavendra Rao, did several Telugu films at the time. Although she never got a big break, she landed several second female lead roles in big hero films.
After shifting to Bollywood, Taapsee began to take on female-centric roles and quickly made a name for herself. However, she stirred up controversy with some of her comments about South films, including belittling her first film director Raghavendra Rao when explaining the portrayal of heroines glamorously. Her remarks sparked serious trolling at the time.
In a recent interview, Taapsee once again commented on the South film industry, saying that although she made her acting debut with South films, she never felt satisfied as an actor in the industry. She cited this as the reason why she shifted to Bollywood. According to her, her Hindi film “Pink” turned her career around and she is satisfied with the roles she has played in Bollywood. She stated that her goal is to achieve a position that no one else has reached before.
These comments have once again ignited controversy among South film circles, as it has become common for actresses from the North to belittle the industry that gave them their big break before they made it big in Bollywood.
