Suriya’s Suriya44 Titled Retro, Action-packed Teaser Unleashed

Versatile star Suriya’s much-anticipated film #Suriya44, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has officially unveiled its title, Retro, through an exciting teaser released on Christmas Day. This first collaboration between Suriya and Subbaraj is being produced by Suriya himself under his 2D Entertainment banner.

The title teaser offers a tantalizing glimpse into the world of Retro, a gripping gangster drama that blends intense action, romance, and emotional depth. At the heart of the teaser is Suriya’s character, a complex figure caught between the love of his life, played by Pooja Hegde, and the violent world he desperately wants to leave behind.

The teaser opens with a serene moment between Suriya and Pooja, sitting on the ghats of Kashi. In a powerful scene, Suriya promises to abandon his violent past, vowing not to remain part of the world of rowdyism. This tender moment takes a romantic turn when he proposes to Pooja, who joyfully accepts.

However, as the teaser unfolds, the past comes rushing back. Suriya’s character is haunted by a violent legacy tied to his father and other dangerous figures from his world. The teaser masterfully contrasts his softer, more vulnerable side with his raw, ferocious gangster persona. The final moments of the teaser reveal a raw, and intense version of Suriya, sitting casually while drinking and smoking.

As the teaser suggests, the film effortlessly balances commercial appeal with a gripping narrative. The cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna shines with its visual grandeur, while Santosh Narayanan’s background score elevates the emotional and action-packed moments. Mohammed Shafique Ali is the editor.

The film is co-produced by Rajsekhar Karpoorasundarapandian and Karthikeyan Santhanam of Stone Bench Films.
