Superstar Krishna who redefined commercial cinema in the 60s and 70s had emerged as one of the biggest superstars of Telugu cinema despite NTR, and ANR being the reigning superstars in that generation.
Krishna has done several experiments which no other hero ever did in Telugu cinema. It’s Krishna who introduced the 70mm, Cinemascope, and Eastman Colour. While today’s heroes find it difficult to release at least one movie in a year, Krishna had more than 10 releases in a year for the most part of his career.
The superstar who has done a wide variety of roles in his career seems to have a few unfulfilled dreams. It’s buzzed that Superstar Krishna wanted to share the screen space with this grandson Gautham Krishna and also wanted to see Mahesh Babu in a James Bond role. But, both his dreams remained unfulfilled. Krishna was also eager to do a movie on the Marathi warrior Chatrapathi Shivaji but couldn’t do that.
On the whole, except for a few unfulfilled dreams, Krishna’s career was highly successful. The Telugu film industry decided to halt the shootings on 17th November as a mark of respect to him. The actor’s mortal remains are now taken to Padmalaya Studios from his residence in Nanakaramguda, Hyderabad. Fans and the general public can pay their last respects to the star actor.
The last rites will be conducted at the noon with state honors at Mahaprasthanam in Film Nagar, Hyderabad. On the other hand, the industry will remain closed today.
