Star Writer Takes A Dig At Animal Movie

Renowned Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has strongly criticized Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film “Animal,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor, labeling its success as a threat to society. Despite the movie’s massive box office success, earning over Rs 890 crore worldwide and garnering praise for Ranbir Kapoor, it faced controversy due to certain scenes and dialogues that were deemed misogynistic.

Akhtar, known for his illustrious career in writing for numerous blockbusters and acclaimed songs, expressed concern about the film’s impact. He highlighted specific scenes where a man asks a woman to lick his shoe and justifies slapping a woman, emphasizing that the film’s success despite such content is worrisome.

The veteran writer and recipient of National Awards, Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and a former Rajya Sabha member, is among many voices criticizing “Animal” for its controversial portrayal of gender dynamics.

Additionally, Javed Akhtar recently penned the song “Nikle The Kabhi Hum Ghar Se” for “Dunki” and reportedly received a significant fee of 25 lakhs, marking the highest remuneration for a Bollywood lyricist for a single song.
