After not so impressive outing with Rudramadevi, director Gunasekhar is back with a mythological love story Shaakunthalam featuring Samantha. The movie’s shooting was completed long back and Samantha had a release in the form of Yashoda, but the Shaakunthalam movie is yet to get released.
The movie which was supposed to be released last year had finally sealed the release date as 17th February. However, as per the latest buzz, the movie will not have a theatrical release on the said date and might get postponed again.
With Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan doing well at the box office, the theatres are not ready to allot the screens to the Shehzada movie which was initially planned for the 10th February release. With the scarcity of theaters, Shehzada got postponed to 17th February.
As Shaakunthalam will have a Pan India release, the makers don’t want to clash with Shehzada which will lead to a scarcity of theatres, and wanted to postpone their movie. An official announcement is yet to be made.
