Malayalam actor Siddiqui got huge relief in actress rape case. The Supreme Court granted him anticipatory bail. The bench comprising of Justice Bela Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, which investigated the case, issued a verdict to this extent. The Supreme Court cited eight years’ delay in filing the FIR against the actor as the reason for granting bail.
Siddiqui was directed to deposit his passport in the trial court and cooperate with the investigation. It is known that there is a nationwide discussion about the difficulties faced by women in the Malayalam film industry. The Kerala government has set up the Justice Hema Committee on the harassment of women in the Malayalam film industry.
The report prepared by this committee is shaking the industry. In the wake of this report, actress Revathi Sampath has accused actor Siddiqui of rape. The victim alleged that he forced her to fulfill her wish for an opportunity in a movie.
She alleged that he sexually assaulted her at a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram in 2016 after she refused his demands. These allegations are creating a big uproar in the Mollywood industry. Police have registered a case and are investigating after Revathi complained. Instead of being arrested, Siddiqui approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail.
