For all fans of Deepika Padukone and those of now pan-Indian star Prabhas, here comes the bad news. Deepika Padukone who was being considered for the role of Sita, will not be doing the film.
Adipurush is a mega-project being helmed by Om Raut and has Prabhas in the lead as Lord Ram. Playing the antagonist will be Saif Ali Khan. Named Lankesh, he is being flaunted as the most intelligent villain who lived 7000 years ago.
Such a hi-profile film needed an equally hi-profile actress. And Bollywood’s A-listed actress Deepika Padukone would have been the perfect choice to play the demure yet strong-willed Sita.
But the hitch comes in the form of another film that both Prabhas and Deepika are doing together. It is now known that Prabhas and Deepika have been cast in Vyjayanthi movies’ 50th film, which is going to be directed by Mahanati fame Nag Ashwin. Since the pairing has already been confirmed, the makers of Adipurush ended up in a fix as the pair cannot be repeated in back-to-back films.
Nag Ashwin also roped in Amitabh Bachchan into the cast making it a rather prestigious project and the film will release in multiple languages in 2022.
This naturally means that Deepika will have to be replaced by another star in Adipurush. Now the makers are frantically looking out for another A-listed Bollywood star. For now, they haven’t found a suitable replacement as they feel Deepika would have been a perfect fit.
