Ram Charan and Upasana at Oscar 2023 celebrated Indian artisans by wearing designer, custom-made attire. The couple’s clothing choices were a tribute to the skilled craftsmen who create intricate designs
Global Star Ram Charan attended the 2023 Oscars event in an elegant and memorable fashion. He was dressed in a custom-made creation by fashion designers Shantanu and Nikhil, inspired by his character in the upcoming film ‘RRR’. The ensemble featured medallion buttons and brooches that resembled chakras, adding a special touch to the attire.
Styled by Nikita Jaisinghani, the Mega Power Star looked suave in a sharp bandh-gala, which incorporated military nuances. The gender-fluid kurta added a modern edge to his style and showcased India’s contemporary fashion. Charan conducted himself with finesse and panache on the red carpet, earning praises for his demeanor and fashion sense.
His wife, Upasana Kamineni, complemented his look in a Jayanti Reddy- designed silk saree created from recycled scraps and a statement Lilium neckpiece by Bina Goenka. She has been incorporating sustainable practices and has initiated a string of community initiatives at grass- root levels to preserve nature and reduce our carbon footprint. Her look was further accessorized with a handmade potli made from scraps again. Her jewellery for the event was a quaint and statement Lilium neck piece avant-garde Mumbai-based jewellery designer, Bina Goenka that was intricately crafted and was in making for the last four years. It was maneuvered with impeccable craftsmanship, made using the highest quality of natural gemstones of pearls and approximately 400 carats of high- quality rubies that cannot be recreated.
The couple celebrated homegrown artisans with elegance.
During the event, the ‘Rangasthalam’ actor expressed his gratitude towards the Academy and remarked that he and his wife were not just attending as themselves but also as representatives of India. He said, “Thank you to the Academy for having us and having India.” His statement highlighted his pride in representing his country and its culture at the prestigious international event.
