It is widely known that SS Rajamouli has expressed his desire to create a grand film or franchise based on the epic Mahabharata, a dream project he has been discussing for many years. This ambitious endeavor is expected to generate immense excitement as it becomes one of the biggest projects in Indian cinema. The recent comments made by Rajamouli’s father, Vijayendra Prasad, who is a renowned writer, have further raised the already high expectations surrounding the project.
In a recent interview, Vijayendra Prasad mentioned that Rajamouli is likely to commence work on the Mahabharata project after completing his film with Mahesh Babu. He believes it is the perfect timing for Rajamouli to undertake this venture, as his consecutive successes with “RRR” and “SSMB29” will have established him in the global market. With such a significant image, Rajamouli will seemingly have the creative freedom to include anything in the movie.
Rajamouli had previously stated that it may take him a year to thoroughly comprehend and gather ideas from the various versions of the Mahabharata available in the country. When he finally launches his dream project, which is expected to span across multiple parts, it will be an unprecedented undertaking in the history of Indian cinema. The film is anticipated to feature numerous big stars from various film industries.
In the meantime, it is also widely known that Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu will be collaborating on a project. According to reports, the film will kick off with extensive workshops in late 2023. Rajamouli is organizing workshops for different departments that will continue for six months. Given the significant amount of visual effects (VFX) involved in the movie, these workshops will focus on VFX composition, the utilization of green screens, and other related aspects. It has also been mentioned that the film will be developed as a trilogy.
