Not OTT, But These Are Killing Cinema Industry, Says Teja

Director Teja, known for his honesty and unique perspective. Recently spoke about the exorbitant prices of popcorn in multiplexes during an interview with Gopichand for his new movie Rama Banam promotions. Teja criticized the high prices of food items in multiplexes, stating that they have exceeded the cost of cinema tickets and are driving people away from theaters. He added that the cost of popcorn and other refreshments are too high for the common man and recommends people to watch movies in single screens instead.

Director Harish Shankar also echoed Teja’s sentiments on social media, calling attention to the need to address this issue. While some people on social media disagreed with Teja, stating that the early release of movies on OTT platforms is the primary reason for low theater attendance, others pointed out that ticket prices also play a significant role in influencing cinema-goers, including those who frequent single screens.
