India’s leading OTT platform, ZEE5, is known for delivering some of the most engaging and thrilling web series in Telugu. Now, it returns with a brand-new web series titled “Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting”, starring the highly talented Abhignya Vuthaluru in the lead role. This gripping thriller is directed by Poluru Krishna and produced by Sriram under the banner South Indian Screens.
Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting is set for its grand premiere on ZEE5 on June 27. Ahead of its release, the makers launched the trailer today in Hyderabad. Popular actor Naveen Chandra unveiled the trailer and extended his best wishes to the entire team.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the world of Viraatapalem, a story set in the 1980s where young brides mysteriously die soon after their marriages. PC Meena, recently transferred to the village police station, takes charge of the investigation. What follows is a chain of suspenseful events, wrapped in superstition, thrills, and chills that promise to keep viewers hooked till the very end.
Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting features Charan Lakkaraju, Lavanya Sahukara, Ramaraju, Gowtham Raju and Satish in other pivotal roles. Divya Thejaswi Pera has written the series, while the screenplay was penned by Vikram Kumar Kandimalla. Mahesh K Swaroop handled the cinematography. While Farooq Hundekar did the editing, Rohit Kumar composed the background score.
Speaking at the trailer launch event, Actor Naveen Chandra said, “I was excited the moment I saw the poster of this series. Recce is one of my favourite web series, and I was impressed to know the same director made this series. I liked the premise of Viraatapalem. I don’t know Abhignya personally, but I follow her on social media. I always felt she would get her due with a crazy role and character. I’m sure she will live up to the trust producer Sriram garu placed in her. After watching the trailer, I was confident this series would create buzz. I congratulate the entire team. After watching the trailer, I even felt like I should have been part of this series. I believe Viraatapalem will surely engage you. I’ll binge-watch the show on June 27 and hope you all do the same.”
Lead actress Abhignya said, “Apart from writing a good story, executing it well is equally important. Thank you Divya for writing such a beautiful script with the right amount of ideation. A lady constable dealing with superstitions in a village is a very unique concept. Thank you Sriram garu for believing in me. Thank you Krishna garu,itt was an enriching experience to work with you on set. Wearing a police uniform for the first time in this series made me feel very special. I thank the entire cast and crew and ZEE5 for making this project possible. I hope you all like it.”
Producer Sriram said, “After Recce, I heard around 10–15 subjects, but none of them impressed me. I feel a story should haunt me after I hear it. If it stays with me, I believe it will become a success. When I heard this story, it haunted me. I was thoroughly impressed. Coming to the lead roles, we shortlisted three actresses for this character. Abhignya showed immense interest, and I saw the excitement in her. I told her to work hard because, for the first time, I am working within certain limitations. She agreed and believed in this story 110%. I requested Krishna garu to direct this project as I felt he was the right choice. Even though he had other commitments, he agreed to do it for me. I thank each and every cast and crew member who worked really hard for this project.”
Director Krishna said, “I did Recce for ZEE5 in the past, and it was a successful project. Now, I’m returning with Viraatapalem. It’s a very good story. Just like how I enjoyed directing Recce, I enjoyed directing Viraatapalem too. I hope you all like it when it premieres on June 27.”
ZEE5 Content Head Sai Tej said, “Recce is so far the biggest hit on ZEE5, and Viraatapalem will succeed at that level too.
