Modi’s Move: Replacing MPs For Election Success

In preparation for the upcoming elections, Narendra Modi is strategically planning to secure a third consecutive victory for his party. As the political landscape in India evolves, Modi’s BJP is adapting its approach to counter the united front of alliances and opposition parties challenging the ruling NDA. Having previously secured 303 MPs in the 2019 elections, Modi’s new goal is to surpass that count in the upcoming polls.

To achieve this objective, Modi has formulated a strategy to identify incumbent MPs whose performance has been lackluster. The plan involves replacing underperforming MPs with new candidates who can invigorate the party’s prospects. A list of approximately 65 such MPs has been compiled, primarily from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. Factors like age, ineffective performance, and dwindling interest in electoral activities contribute to their decline.

JP Nadda, the National President, is maintaining open lines of communication with these MPs, contemplating changes if their performance doesn’t improve. Modi is determined to reenergize the competition by inviting younger candidates and Rajya Sabha MPs to contest the constituencies represented by the underperforming MPs. This move represents a notable shift in the party’s approach.

Recognizing the need for a resolute approach to secure victory, Modi initiated dedicated programs between May 30 and June 30. However, nearly 100 MPs, including the aforementioned 65, were not actively engaged in these initiatives, indicating unsatisfactory performance. This assessment has prompted the party to recalibrate its strategy and rejuvenate its presence in the electoral arena.
