ZEE5’s latest web series, “Maya Bazaar – For Sale,” features Naresh Vijaya Krishna, Eesha Rebba, Jhansi Laxmi, and Meiyang Chang in leading roles. This Telugu and Tamil show is set in a gated community called Maya Bazaar in Hyderabad. Let’s delve into how the series fares.

Story:

“Maya Bazaar – For Sale” revolves around the lives of individuals residing in the Maya Bazaar community. Padmanabhasastry, also known as Pastry (played by Naresh), moves with his family to a villa in Maya Bazaar. Abhijeet (Navdeep), a popular actor and resident of Maya Bazaar, is invited to Pastry’s villa but mysteriously dies. Meanwhile, the CCDA Commissioner (Shiva Narayana) reveals that Maya Bazaar was constructed on illegal land. The series explores how the residents handle this predicament and the personal issues they face.

Plus Points:

Sunaina delivers a hilarious performance in one of the episodes, portraying a housewife cheated on by her husband. Her outstanding acting skills and comedic timing will leave the audience in splits.

Seasoned actor Naresh delivers a solid performance, as expected. Meiyang Chang impresses with his emotional scene towards the end of the series. Eesha Rebba shines in her role, and Jhansi, Aditi Myakal, and Raja Chembolu deliver decent performances. Suma’s voice-over for a cow provides some laughs.

Minus Points:

Despite an intriguing premise, the poorly written characters make the series lackluster and unengaging. The execution falls flat right from the first episode.

Navdeep’s character is introduced poorly, and the screenplay progresses aimlessly and haphazardly for the most part. Navdeep’s character becomes insignificant to the overall story, and the residents’ issues with the CCDA commissioner are resolved too easily. The lack of emotional connection and the unexciting nature of most subplots make it difficult to root for the characters.

Hari Teja and Ravi Varma’s track is boring and annoying, and comedian Gautham Raju’s comedy fails to deliver. The election track lacks impact, and the intended humor falls flat.

Verdict:

In conclusion, “Maya Bazaar – For Sale” is a disappointing web series. While it has a promising premise, the execution fails to deliver. The lack of drama and emotional depth make it difficult to connect with the characters, and some characters even become irritating. Except for a few enjoyable moments, the series overall is a tedious watch.
