Star hero Ravi Teja has turned co-producer for the first time and aggressively promoted his maiden venture Matti Kusthi movie. Actor Vishnu Vishal, who was seen along with Rana in Aranya movie is the hero of this movie. This young hero is trying to make a strong foothold in the Telugu film industry. Let’s see what’s the movie is all about.

Story:

Veera (Vishnu Vishal), is a rich and affluent person who leads a worry-free life. He thinks of marrying a submissive and uneducated girl. On the other hand, Keerthi (Aishwarya Lekshmi) is an educated lady who is a wrestler by profession. Keerthi’s parents insist she gets married to Veera, which leaves her wrestling dreams unfulfilled. After getting married, Veera tries to dominate Keerthi and commands her in every aspect. In one of the scenarios, he got to know the facts about his wife Keerthi. What did Veera do then? How did his life change after that? This forms part of the story.

Plus Points:

Though Vishnu Vishal is the hero, it’s Aishwarya Lekshmi who steals the show. She performed the role with great aplomb. Aishwarya Lekshmi’s role has more prominence in the film’s plot, and she excelled in it. The actress was very graceful in the action sequences, and she gave her finest performance till date in this movie.

Vishnu Vishal, as a wealthy, headstrong, and narrow-minded person, was at his natural best. He has a good screen presence, and his comedy portions with his friends’ gang evoked decent laughs. All his scenes with Aishwarya are good, and the chemistry between the lead pair is neat. Vishnu Vishal’s acting is good in the scene where he realizes his mistake.

The first half of the film is engaging and fast-paced, with good doses of entertainment. The climax fight sequence is well-composed and gives a nice finishing touch to the film.
Minus Points:

After an entertaining first half, the minute the second half begins, things go haywire, and the movie squanders around without any proper flow. The movie’s plot is quite routine, and the director hasn’t focused on giving it a different treatment.

Though some topics like women’s empowerment are discussed, the way they are presented is not convincing. The depth was missing, and instead of focussing on these aspects, the film goes haywire with a training episode of Vishnu Vishal adding to the length.

Verdict:

On the whole, Matti Kusthi is a movie that has bits and pieces of entertainment along with the finest performances of the lead pair. But the below-par second half and not having enough emphasis on the main issues bring down the overall impact. The movie is just a passable watch this weekend.
