Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, MM Keeravani’s First Collaboration Yedho YeJanmalodo Song Unveiled by Rockstar DSP

Shashtipoorthi, starring Nata Kireeti Rajendra Prasad, is a family drama entertainer laced with emotions, traditions, love and a lot more. Produced by Maa Aaie Productions with Rupeysh in the lead role, the film also features National Award winner Archana. Directed by Pavan Prabha and produced by Hero Rupeysh himself, a soulful song from the movie is out today.

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja has composed the music for the movie. For the first time ever, Oscar winner MM Keeravani has penned a song tuned by the Maestro. While Keeravani has written songs in the past, the legends never collaborated before this. Titled ‘Yedho YeJanmalodo’, the song is a soulful single shot on Rupyesh and Aakanksha Singh.

On this occasion, director Pavan Prabha said, “We went to Chennai to record songs with Ilaiyaraaja sir. At first, he composed tunes for two songs in our movie. During the recording of the second song, he suggested that we could take a third song as well in the same session. After I narrated a situation, he composed a tune for it. But it wasn’t a regular song; it had to narrate a story in its own right. The lyrics needed to convey the events in the woman’s life and express how she intended to be with the person she loved. Lyricists Rahman and Chaitanya Prasad had already written songs, and their unique styles were evident in them.

However, I wanted to take a slightly different approach for Yedho Ye Janmalodo. Keeravani sir is an exceptional lyricist. His writing is both meaningful and catchy while maintaining literary value. So, I shared this thought with Rupeysh sir. He showed interest in giving it a try. Without further hesitation, we reached out to Keeravani sir. Chaitanya Prasad sir called him. At that time, he was in Chennai for a film’s re-recording session. We immediately met him and requested him to write a song for Shashtipoorthi. He asked, ‘Did you inform Raja sir?’ I told him we would inform him if he was okay with writing the song.

He then asked for the tune and said he would write the pallavi first, and if we liked it, he would complete the song. The pallavi was ready in no time. Chaitanya Prasad sir read it out, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. It was unparalleled and timeless. Ananya Bhat sang it beautifully as well. The combination of Raja sir’s tune, Keeravani sir’s lyrics, and Ananya Bhat’s voice resulted in an incredible song.”
