‘Lucky Baskhar’ Is Highly Relatable To Everyone: Dulquer Salmaan

Lucky Baskhar starring multi-lingual star actor Dulquer Salmaan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sai Kumar, Tinnu Anand, Sharad Khelkar and others released on 31st October. The movie has collected over Rs.55 crores at the box office and it is going strong with positive word of mouth. The movie has received unanimous blockbuster in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages upon release. The Venky Atluri directorial has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, Sai Soujanya of Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, respectively have produced the film.

Dulquer Salmaan interacted with media on 4th November expressing his gratitude for the success. Here are the excerpts.

Dulquer Salmaan stated that he liked the narration by Venky Atluri and immediately accepted the film. He stated that he had dates available and the makers have decided to get ready for him in just 14-15 days. He thanked producers for giving him such a memorable character and script.

On what excited him to do the film

Dulquer Salmaan stated that he loves to explore different genres rather than sticking to just one particular kind of a film. He stated that he is happy to have played Baskhar Kumar character which he felt is relatable. Even though he is the son of a superstar like Mammootty, he stated that his mother made sure that he knows the value of money. He also revealed that he used to dream about winning lottery as a kid and as he doesn’t want to do anything illegal off the camera, in real life, he is channeling that energy in the films like Lucky Baskhar.

On perfect strike rate in Telugu

Dulquer Salmaan applauded the guts of Nag Ashwin for believing in him for Mahanati. He stated that he needs to know the language to emote and he feared he would bring down a magnum opus like Mahanati with his presence. But it is Nag Ashwin and Swapna Dutt’s belief in him that lead to Mahanati and then today’s Lucky Baskhar. He stated that while he has been offered many scripts from Telugu, he is happy to have received Lucky Baskhar kind of a different film that found universal acclaim.

On Telugu People’s love towards him and Cinema

Dulquer stated that his father, Mammootty loves to learn different languages and he also learnt it from him. He stated that his father loves Telugu language and he calls it “most expressive one” and he is finding the truth behind the great legend’s words with each film. He stated that he has become a household person in Telugu with his three films and he is excited about future. He also shared that few people from Hyderabad, when his Malayalam films did not release in Telugu states came to him and appreciated them. He expressed his disbelief about the love that Telugu people have for Cinema.

On Lucky Baskhar’s unanimous positive word of mouth

Dulquer Salmaan expressed happiness and satisfaction for receiving such unanimous positive word of mouth from all South Indian states, the movie released. He joked that he is trying to find one negative word but he is overwhelmed by the positive response everywhere. He stated that he did ask editor Navin Nooli and director Venky to let some shots and scenes breathe but after listening to audience’s feedback, he understood that they both knew better than him. He stated that he is happy that good people have come together to make a good film as it is hard to make a film thinking it would be a hit or a success.

On his future projects

Dulquer Salmaan stated that he is working on Aakasam lo Oka Thaara in Telugu and few are in talking stage. He did not confirm a movie with his father as Mammootty has to decide about it.
