Director and producer Puri Jagannadh is facing the consequences of the failure of his latest film “Liger”. The movie, starring Vijay Deverakonda, was produced by Jagannadh and Charmme under their production banner, PC Connects, and sold for a high price. However, since its release in August of last year, buyers have been demanding compensation due to the losses incurred. Distributors recently began protesting outside Jagannadh’s house in Hyderabad, prompting the filmmaker to file a complaint with the police. In addition, the IT department launched an investigation into possible illegal investments related to the film, leading Jagannadh, Charmme, and Deverakonda to attend an enquiry.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Jagannadh has reportedly moved on to his next project, which stars Ram. An official announcement is expected to be made on May 15th, which is Ram’s birthday. Meanwhile, exhibitors have begun a protest at the film chamber in Hyderabad, demanding compensation for their losses. The exhibitors and leasers association is leading the protest.
“Liger” was released on August 25th, 2022, and received poor reviews from critics. The film’s failure has been a significant blow to all parties involved, including Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey, who played the female lead. Jagannadh, who has faced several box-office disappointments in his career, has yet to bounce back from this particular setback.
