On February 2, 2023, renowned Indian Filmmaker K Viswanath passed away at the age of 92, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the release of his most acclaimed film, Shankarabharanam. Tragically, just 24 days later, his wife, K Jaya Lakshmi, also passed away due to age-related problems and grief, while still mourning the loss of her life partner of over 60 years.
K Jaya Lakshmi was 88 years old and is survived by her three children, including one daughter and two sons. Viswanath’s passing earlier in the month marked the loss of a prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, while Jaya Lakshmi’s passing represents another significant loss for the Indian film industry.
