K. Raghavendra Lands In A Legal Trouble

Veteran film director K. Raghavendra Rao, along with his brother K. Krishnamohan Rao and their family, has been served court notices by the Telangana High Court in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in 2012.

The PIL questions the allocation of a two-acre plot (the current location of RK Cineplex) in Banjara Hills’ Survey No. 403/1 in 1984. Originally designated for a recording and re-recording theatre at Rs.8,500 per acre, the land took a different turn in 2003 when the TDP government permitted the construction of a mini-theatre, film training institute, and a conference hall.

Contrary to the initial plans, the family opted to develop a commercial complex on the site, leading to a legal challenge through the 2012 PIL presented before the High Court. Despite notices issued by the court last year, there was no response, prompting further action.
