Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Appeal For Rs 17,144 Crore?

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi to discuss urgent matters related to Andhra Pradesh. He sought the Prime Minister’s intervention in expediting State bifurcation issues, releasing funds for new medical colleges, completing the Polavaram project, and addressing flaws in the National Food Security Act’s implementation.

CM Jagan met with Home Minister Amit Shah for 45 minutes before meeting with the Prime Minister for an hour and twenty minutes. He then met with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss state issues.

In a memorandum, the Chief Minister appealed to the Prime Minister to accept revised estimates of Rs 55,548.87 crore for the Polavaram Project and release Rs 17,144 crore on a priority basis to complete the first phase, including rehabilitation and resettlement for displaced individuals. He also requested the reimbursement of Rs 1310.15 crore in arrears incurred by the State Government for the Polavaram Project.

Additionally, Jagan urged the Prime Minister to ensure the Telangana Government clears the outstanding amount of Rs 7,230.14 crore owed by the Telangana State Discoms to APGENCO for power supplied between 2014 and 2017.

Regarding the National Food Security Act, the Chief Minister highlighted the financial burden of Rs 5,527 crore in supplying ration to 56 lakh families annually. He appealed for the Centre’s assistance by providing 77,000 metric tons of rice per month from unused ration stocks to alleviate this burden.

These meetings reflect the Chief Minister’s efforts to address crucial issues impacting Andhra Pradesh and his appeal for the central government’s support in fulfilling promises made during the state’s bifurcation.
