It’s RRR mania all over. The entire is celebrating as the Naatu Naatu song from the movie has won the Oscars. The director, singers, lyricist, music director, and lead actors are getting lavish praises, but the man left out is its producer DVV Danayya.
The movie RRR, by SS Rajamouli and featuring a star-studded cast of NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgan, and Alia Bhatt, had an enormous budget due to extensive VFX and the actors’ high remuneration. The film reportedly cost over 500Cr, excluding interest, and continuous postponements added to the financial strain on producer Danayya.
Despite its release, RRR did not generate significant profits and even resulted in losses in some areas, which was unexpected for a Rajamouli film as the director’s large-scale movies like Magadheera and the Baahubali series reaped huge profits. Therefore, Danayya was unhappy with RRR’s financial outcome.
After the movie’s release, Rajamouli requested that Danayya spend more money on an Oscar campaign, but the producer wasn’t interested. This created a rift between the two, and the RRR unit began to disregard Danayya.
Throughout the entire Oscar campaign, Danayya’s name wasn’t mentioned, and he wasn’t invited to the Oscar win celebrations. As a result, RRR didn’t benefit Danayya either personally or financially.
