The film “Jawan,” which marks Atlee’s directorial debut in Bollywood alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Has received positive feedback from fans and has had a strong box office opening, earning Rs 75 crores on its first day of release in three languages: Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. However, it appears that some netizens have raised questions about the originality of the film’s storyline and are trolling Atlee.
Atlee, known for his work in South Indian cinema, including films like “Raja Rani,” “Theri,” “Mersal,” and “Bigil,” has previously faced allegations of plot plagiarism in his movies.
“Jawan,” a commercial action film, features Shah Rukh Khan in dual roles as a father and son, both of whom take on action-packed roles to combat anti-social elements. The central theme revolves around the father’s support for his son.
According to some social media users, the storyline of “Jawan” closely resembles a Tamil film titled “Thai Nadu,” which was released in 1989 and starred Sathyaraj in multiple roles. Netizens have been mocking Atlee, alleging that he copied and pasted the narrative and script from “Thai Nadu” to create “Jawan.” Criticism has also been directed at the film’s flashback scenes, which are said to have similarities to scenes from Vijayakanth’s “Ramana.”
However, there are also defenders of Atlee who argue that he is a superior director compared to other Tamil directors like Lokesh Kanagaraj and AR Murugadoss. Some viewers of “Jawan” have stated that Atlee employed a combination of slow-motion sequences, CGI, and flashbacks, borrowing elements from his previous films to create an illusion of originality in the storyline.
“Jawan” has garnered praise and criticism, with some questioning its originality while others defend Atlee’s approach to filmmaking.
