The age-old rivalry between Tollywood stars Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi is well-known, despite both actors often claiming to be friends. During this year’s Sankranti, their films Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya, respectively, were released on the same day. While Balakrishna’s film went on to become the highest-grosser of his career and completed 100 days, Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya received mixed reviews.
To celebrate the milestone, the makers of Veera Simha Reddy released a new poster with a caption that seemed to be taking a dig at Chiranjeevi’s film. The poster read ‘NBK:Garjinche Blockbuster. Single handtho century’ implying that Balakrishna single-handedly achieved a century of success, unlike Chiranjeevi who couldn’t achieve the same with Waltair Veerayya, despite roping in popular actor Ravi Teja in a powerful role.
Interestingly, the posters were not released online by Mythri Movie Makers, who bankrolled both films. However, they soon went viral on social media, sparking fan wars between the supporters of both stars.
Despite the ongoing rivalry between them, Balakrishna continued his success streak with Akhanda and Veera Simha Reddy, while Chiranjeevi made a comeback with Waltair Veerayya after the debacle of Acharya. Despite the competition, it is heartening to see that both stars have managed to maintain a cordial relationship in public appearances.
