Renowned as the King of Tollywood, Nagarjuna has etched his name in the industry with a repertoire of romantic and jovial family entertainers. However, recent times have witnessed his stumble with consecutive flops, including the action-oriented “Wild Dog” and “The Ghost,” both of which failed to make an impact at the box office.
Nagarjuna has since maintained a low profile, and the spotlight now shifts to his forthcoming venture, which holds the distinction of being his 99th film. The film’s announcement is scheduled for August 29, 2023, and it has garnered considerable speculation.
Initial rumors hinted at director Prasanna Kumar Beawada taking the helm, but Nagarjuna has opted to provide an opportunity to a fresh face. The project, a remake of the Malayalam hit “Porinju Mariam Jose,” will be directed by choreographer Vijay Binni.
While earlier buzz centered around the title “Galata,” recent reports suggest a potential alteration to “Na Sami Ranga.” Producer Srinivasa Chitturi is steering the project’s financial course and has already secured the chosen title. In this venture, Nagarjuna will embrace a dual role, set against the backdrop of the 1990s.
