Like never before, an Indian cinema is making waves on the global level. Though some claim it to be paid campaign, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR is doing wonders. At the recent Hollywood Critics Association film awards, Team RRR received four major awards, prompting pictures of the team with their HCA statuettes to go viral on social media. However, some fans of actor NTR were disappointed with his absence from the event and expressed their frustration by tagging the HCA’s Twitter handle and criticizing the organization for not honouring NTR.
In response, the HCA has issued a clarification regarding NTR’s absence at the awards ceremony, likely to address the concerns of the disappointed fans.
“Dear RRR fans & supporters, we did invite N. T. Rama Rao Jr. to attend the #HCAFilmAwards but he is shooting a new film in India. He will be receiving his awards from us shortly. Thank you for all your love and support” (sic), the HCA’s Twitter handle tweeted in the wee hours of Tuesday.
And when a fan pointed out that NTR couldn’t attend the awards due to Tarakaratna’s passing, the HCA replied, saying, “He was originally shooting a movie which is why he couldn’t attend. His brother’s passing happened afterward which is why he stepped away from the movie. This is what his publicist told us (sic).” Tarak will be given his HCA statuette upon his arrival to the US for the Oscar promotions.
