Harish Shankar is a commercial director with a rare ability to match a hero’s attitude and body language with proper commercial entertainment. He proved this with his films Mirapakaya and Gabbar Singh, which established him as the new face of Telugu Commercial Cinema. However, with the failure of Ramayya Vastavayya, he had to switch to mid-range heroes. Even though his film DJ with Allu Arjun did not become a blockbuster, it still had Harish’s signature commercial entertainment all over it.
Despite scoring big hits, Harish Shankar takes a long gap between movies. To compensate for his hiatus, he is currently directing his favourite hero Pawan Kalyan for Ustaad Bhagath Singh, a long-delayed film that recently started its shoot. After completing this film, he will reportedly move on to a film with Ravi Teja, with whom he has a good equation.
Moreover, there are strong rumors that Harish Shankar has been preparing a script for Natasimha Nandamuri Balakrishna and plans to make it under Mythri Movie Makers banner. Harish is confident that his script will impress NBK, and the film will happen soon. He aims to release both films next year, despite taking a long gap between movies.
