Janhvi Kapoor, the darling daughter of legendary female superstar Sridevi has been struggling for a big commercial break. Though her looks have been appreciated, a super hit is still eluding her since her debut. Janhvi’s latest movie Good Luck Jerry got released directly on the OTT Hot star. This is an official remake of Tamil movie Kolamaavu Kokila. Let’s see what’s the movie is all about.
Story:
Jerry alias Jaya Kumari (Janhvi Kapoor) hails from a middle-class family and works in a massage parlor. She lives along with her younger sister and widowed mother Sharbati (Mita Vashist). When everything was going smoothly, things take an unexpected turn when Jerry comes to know that her mother suffers from lung cancer.
To make things further worse, Jerry gets nabbed by the police when she bumps into a drug smuggler. The drug smuggler Timmy (Jaswanth Singh) threatens Jerry to get back her cocaine which was lost in police raids. With her mother deteriorating day by day, Jerry decides to join the drug racket for her mother’s treatment. What happens next is the rest of the story.
Plus Points:
Jahnvi Kapoor is an apt choice for Jerry’s role and she delivered a fine performance. Her acting has improved a lot compared to her previous movies.
The story has a lot of scope for performance and a few scenes evoke laughter. The second half is quite hilarious.
Minus Points:
Though the background score is good, the music is a big let-down. Though the director has engaged the audience with the taut screenplay, the movie goes haywire after a while.
Verdict:
On the whole, Good Luck Jerry entertains in parts. With the new subplots getting introduced in the middle of the movie causes confusion. The movie is a decent watch if you ignore some hiccups.
