Ghantasala the Great’ is a biopic on the life of immortal singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao. Krishna Chaitanya played the title role. Krishna Chaitanya’s wife Mridula played the role of Ghantasala’s wife Savitri in this movie. Produced by CH Srimati Phani under the direction of CH Rama Rao. The movie will release on February 14. The release date poster was unveiled by the hands of former Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu in a program held at Prasad Labs Hyderabad. People’s star R Narayanamurthy, producer Ashok Kumar, music director Madhavpeddi Suresh, actors Ashok Kumar, Subbaraya Sharma, actress Jayavani, producer Damodara Prasad, directors Karri Balaji and others attended the event.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu speaking… “Hello everyone. I don’t watch movies. If at all I watch, I prefer to watch old movies. Now I don’t have time to watch new movies so I don’t watch much. I came to watch this as this program passes on legacy to younger generation and the present generation about the life of Ghantasala. I have come to say here as the makers informed me that they have made this film based on the comprehensive life of Ghantasala and have touched on all the issues.

The society needs to know about his life. Being Known to the country and Telugu people as a freedom fighter, public singer, popular music director and above all as an immortal singer. I am very happy to have the opportunity to watch the movie ‘Ghantsala the Great’ . When he used to sing Bhagavad Gita hymns, all the people would listen with great devotion. Making a film on Ghantasala is actually an adventure. Because… making a movie itself is a costly affair. So, congratulations to the producer Mrs. Phani. Kudos to Jeevi Bhaskar and Lakshmi Prasad, who took part in the production with the great idea of bringing out the life of a beautiful singer on screen, not from a financial point of view, but to create social consciousness.

Young singer Krishna Chaitanya who played the role of Ghantasala and Mridulu who played the role of Smt. It’s a nice effort. Ghantasa is called Shatabdi Gayakudu (Singer of Century). I call him an immortal singer. As long as there is music, he will be in people’s minds. As a common man, his life continued with music… I think he will be a role model for future generations as a freedom fighter, a film singer, a music director and the first Telugu inspiration to sing the Bhagavad Gita.

I hope the audience will support and encourage this movie and fans of Ghantasala will enjoy it. It is the duty of Telugu people to watch the movie as it was made with good intentions and not with commercial perception. After I became the Vice President, my programs used to be closed after half past seven. I used to sleep at half past nine. “I used to listen to Annamacharya’s keertans, ghantasala and SP Balu’s songs after waking up,” he said.

People’s Star R Narayanamurthy said… “O NTR, O Aynar, O Ghantasala. As long as NTR and Ayannar are there, there will be bells and whistles. Congratulations to director Rama Rao, producer Fani, and younger brother Krishna Chaitanya, who played the role of Ghantasala, who are celebrating the birth of that great man’s history. Ghantasala means singer and is known as a music director. He participated in the freedom struggle. Bharat Ratna should be given to him. Why didn’t he give it to the northern singers? Bharat Ratna was given to MGR but not to NTR. He said that he should be given too.

Krishna Chaitanya, who played the title role in ‘Ghantasala: The Great’, speaking… “Thanks to Venkaiah Naidu who blessed our film. I am a singer. I am not good at acting. Big actors are in our movie. I sincerely wish that the movie is good and bless me. Thanks to the director Rama Rao for giving me the opportunity,” he said.

Director CH Rama Rao said, “Everyone knows the song of Ghantasala.” I know how great that song is. But, his personality is known to very few people. Sri Ghantasala is a living proof that hard work is wasted and education shines with humility. His personality and life have been told in our movie. No singer has ever had a full-length film in the history of Indian cinema. I am grateful to God for giving me that opportunity,” he said.
