Over the past three weeks, Hyderabad has witnessed two significant drug busts, resulting in the apprehension of several notable celebrities and politicians.
In the most recent development, Tollywood director Manthena Vasu Varma and writer Manneri Prudhvi Krishna, also known as Divakar, have been arrested in connection with the drug case. Vasu Varma, known for directing and producing the film “Basthi” and running a trust, faces charges related to drug procurement and consumption. These arrests were made by the Madhapur police on September 5th, although this information was not disclosed to the media until now.
The ongoing investigation is expected to uncover the involvement of other prominent individuals in drug procurement and consumption. Actor Navdeep was also recently questioned in relation to the case, asserting that he has remained drug-free for three years.
