The sensational blockbuster Thandel, starring Yuva Samrat Naga Chaitanya and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, has achieved a proud double honour at the prestigious Gaddar Awards 2025. Naga Chaitanya won the Best Actor award for his intense and emotionally powerful performance, while Thandel which ended up as biggest grosser for the actor was also recognized as the Best National Integration Film.
This rare double recognition highlights both the strength of Naga Chaitanya’s performance and the film’s meaningful impact. Known for choosing diverse roles, the actor delivered one of his most impressive performances in Thandel, earning praise for the depth, honesty, and realism he brought to the character.
Produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts and presented by Allu Aravind, this marks the first time Naga Chaitanya has received a state award for his performance. Despite stiff competition, his portrayal in Thandel stood out and secured him the win. His performance serves as a testament to his versatility, demonstrating his ability to excel in a wide range of roles, including complete rural characters, when given the right script and direction.
The film’s win as Best National Integration Film also reflects its strong and relevant message. Thandel explores themes of unity, humanity, and cultural harmony, allowing it to connect with audiences beyond regional boundaries. The award particularly recognizes the film’s portrayal of the national flag and its exploration of cultural roots and origins.
The Gaddar Awards, introduced by the Telangana government as a new platform replacing the long-running Nandi Awards, aim to honour excellence in cinema across various categories. The double recognition for Thandel, following Allu Arjun’s win for Pushpa 2 the previous year, makes the moment even more special.
