Megastar Chiranjeevi, who is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming movie, has landed in legal trouble over a piece of land in Jubilee Hills Housing Society. On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court passed an interim order, barring him from any construction activity on the disputed land.
The court passed the order in response to a petition filed by Srikant Babu and others, alleging that the 595 sq-yard land meant for public purposes was sold to Chiranjeevi by the Jubilee Hills Society. The petitioners argued that since the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation did not take control of the disputed land, the society had no right to sell it to the actor.
The court also directed Chiranjeevi to stop the construction activity that had already been started on the land. The Megastar is yet to respond to the court’s order.
The court has asked the Jubilee Hills Housing Society and the GHMC to file their counter-affidavits, and the next hearing is scheduled for April 25.
