Director Puri Jagannath’s ambitious project, “Jana Gana Mana,” has been quite a journey from its inception to potential execution. This grand vision has faced numerous twists and turns in terms of casting and production. Originally, the project generated immense excitement when it was announced with Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in the lead role. However, creative disagreements between Mahesh Babu and Puri Jagannath led to the project’s cancellation, which left fans disappointed.
Unfazed by the setback, Puri Jagannath later revived “Jana Gana Mana” with Vijay Deverakonda and Pooja Hegde as the lead actors. Some of the cast and crew were even finalized, and initial shooting schedules were completed. Unfortunately, their collaboration on “Liger” didn’t meet expectations, leading to a reevaluation and another pause for the project.
Now, there are reports suggesting that Puri Jagannath is exploring opportunities in Bollywood to bring his dream project to life. He is actively seeking collaborations with Bollywood stars to bring his war-themed epic to the silver screen. Similar to directors like S.S. Rajamouli, who has a passion project in the form of adapting the epic “Mahabharata,” Puri Jagannath is deeply committed to making “Jana Gana Mana” a reality. Despite the setbacks, he remains dedicated to realizing his vision.
Currently, Puri is balancing his time between the ongoing production of “Double Ismart” and the continuous development of “Jana Gana Mana.” Fans can only hope that his efforts to impress Bollywood stars with the script will finally pave the way for the realization of his dream project—a war film that has the potential to captivate audiences with its grandeur and storytelling.
