The national leadership of the BJP has unequivocally conveyed its stance against dynasty politics in Telangana. This message came across as a resounding rejection of most proposals to grant electoral tickets to the offspring of senior politicians within the state. The decisiveness of the top leadership has surprised and startled many seasoned politicians.
For instance, former Maharashtra governor Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao had advocated for his son, Vikas Rao, to receive a ticket for the Vemulawada constituency. Even former state president Bandi Sanjay had shown support for Vikas Rao. Nevertheless, the national leadership flatly turned down this proposition.
In a similar vein, sitting governor and veteran politician Bandaru Dattatreya had vigorously lobbied for the Musheerabad seat, with the aim of projecting it as a stronghold for future leadership. However, the party’s central leadership opted to grant the ticket to Pusa Raju, a grassroots-level worker in Musheerabad.
Union Minister and Telangana BJP chief, Kishan Reddy, had reportedly contemplated promoting his wife, Kavya Reddy, for the Amberpet constituency. However, the firm directives from the central leadership compelled him to refrain from pursuing this course. Moreover, the party has also turned down numerous proposals presented by the outgoing party chief, Bandi Sanjay. This resolute stance by the BJP’s national leadership underscores its commitment to discouraging the perpetuation of dynastic politics in Telangana.
