Veteran Telugu actress and Andhra Pradesh State Tourism Minister, R K Roja, has been admitted to the hospital after experiencing discomfort. The news quickly spread and it is reported that her family members took her to Apollo Hospital, Crims Road in Chennai on Saturday night, where she is currently receiving treatment.
A few days ago, Roja had suffered a leg sprain and underwent physiotherapy for a week. However, the pain persisted and started to worsen, leading to her hospitalization at Apollo Hospital in Thousand Lights, Chennai.
Roja is often in the headlines due to her active involvement in politics and her straightforward and confrontational demeanor when dealing with opposition party members. News of her hospitalization has now gone viral. According to reports, doctors are providing intensive treatment and her condition is currently stable.
Roja is a renowned actress in South Indian cinema and has won a National Award. She entered the political arena in Andhra Pradesh and married director RK Selvamani in the early 2000s. The couple has a daughter and a son. Currently, Roja serves as a Minister in the Andhra Pradesh Government, responsible for Tourism, Culture, and Youth Advancement.
She began her political career in 1998 with the Telugu Desam Party and later joined the YSR Congress Party in 2011. Roja has been elected as an MLA from the Nagari region in Andhra Pradesh twice, in 2014 and 2019. In 2022, she permanently retired from the film industry to focus on her political responsibilities.
