Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan had announced that he and his jana sainiks will hold dharnas all over Andhra Pradesh on December 7, today, to highlight the plight of farmers affected by Nirav cyclone.
The damage has happened and it is only prudent on his part to call for dharnas to extend support to the affected farmers. Loss of standing crop and flooding of colonies or bastis has led to massive problems to the farmers. We support the farmers, claims one of the Jana Sena posters.
While the idea is laudable, one cannot help but wonder as to why the Jana Sena chief is silent about the farmers’ call for Bharat bandh on December 8. His stoic silence on the matter has surprised many. Ever since Pawan Kalyan made his political debut, he has maintained that he will question the wrong-doings of politicians. He has repeatedly said that problems of hard-working and toiling people were his primary concern.
Why then is Pawan Kalyan silent. He has not uttered a word or made a comment on the on-going farmers’ protest. Does he not read newspapers, does he not follow national news? As he was repeatedly saying in his press conference regarding Nirav havoc, that he was briefed by his party members on matters, didn’t his coterie tell him of the farmers’ protest on the borders of Delhi?
Is he not aware that talks between the government and farmers failed as farmers are insisting on a ‘yes or no’ answer. In what is a rather embarrassing turn of events, steadily public and opposition parties are warming up to the plight of farmers. As former union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar rightly pointed out that if the protests continue, many more will come forward to support the farmers from the Punjab-Haryana belt.
When so much is happening, where is Pawan Kalyan? What is his stand on farmers’ protest? What is his stand on farm bills? Is the latest announcement of dharna a mere ploy to appease the higher echelons of the Saffron party? Is it a way to divert attention of people?
His proximity to the powers in New Delhi has once again come forth during the recently-concluded GHMC elections when BJP profusely thanked Pawan Kalyan for his support.
Is this the real reason behind his silence? Who will question Pawan Kalyan on his two-faced philosophy?
