Despite the separation of Andhra Pradesh from Madras, the Telugu film industry continued to operate as the centre with Madras for some years. However, with the rise of Telugu star heroes Nandamuri Tarakarama Rao and Akkineni Nageswara Rao as superheroes at that time, Telugu cinema moved from Madras to Hyderabad separately. Since then, the Hyderabad-based Tollywood film industry has been based in Hyderabad. But now the joint Andhra Pradesh is divided into two Telugu states. Yet Tollywood continues to be one. If not, there have been comments coming that the film industry is still together as there are not many film personalities from Telangana. If the heroes of the present Telangana region receive a series of successes and become recognized as star heroes, the comments are rife among the cine crowd that the same situation may be repeated again.
Currently, heroes like Youth Star Nitin – Sensational Star Vijay Devarakonda – Mas Ka Das Vishwak Sen – Karthikeya – Anand Devarakonda – Nikhil Siddharth are from Telangana. They have been filming in a row regardless of the hit flops. Nitin is currently starring in the remake of ‘Rang De’ and ‘Andhadoon‘. He also has movie lined up called ‘Power Peta’. Nitin is already high with the success of ‘Bheeshma’. Also, Vijay Devarakonda, who received a super hit with ‘Arjun Reddy’, is making a pan-India movie called ‘Fighter’. Soon Vijay Devarakonda will get star hero status.
Comments are rife that if a series of successes come to the heroes of this region and bring craze, then the same situation can happen again and that the Tollywood industry will be operating with its base in Hyderabad and Vizag. There is no official statement yet. We will have to wait some more time to know what changes will take place in the Telugu film industry in the coming days.
